Putting My Experience to Work
My extensive community involvement has given me a deep understanding of the unique challenges facing our families, from infrastructure needs to economic growth. On the commission, I will prioritize transparency and accessibility.
AFFORDABLE HOUSING
I will champion renters and increase homeownership opportunities by expanding county rental-assistance programs and emergency eviction-prevention funding, funding eviction‑prevention legal aid, and creating a Rental Navigation Hub to connect tenants with resources; simultaneously, target mortgage and rehabilitation loan programs for first-time and moderate-income buyers, foreclosure-prevention counseling, inclusionary or density-bonus policies that create for-sale affordable units, and financial‑education and homebuyer counseling to ensure long-term stability.
ECONOMIC
I will provide resources and assist with bridging partnerships with food pantries and community fridges; invest in targeted workforce programs that link training to job placements, apprenticeships, and certification subsidies; and support small-business technical assistance, microgrants, and procurement set-asides for entrepreneurs. Provide knowledge and accessibility for both small businesses and entrepreneurs.
COMMUNITY SAFETY
I will prioritize green stormwater infrastructure and mitigation projects while proactively applying for state and federal resilience grants; produce an equity-weighted pavement and sidewalk repair plan; adopt Complete Streets policies with low-cost safety treatments, such as crosswalks, curb extensions, and improved signage; and create rapid-response flood-response teams and early-warning and community-evacuation planning.
